The SSI Deep Diver course is the perfect course for divers who want to gain the skills to plan and conduct dives to a maximum depth of 40m. This course helps build upon your diving knowledge, and your Instructor will cover the additional safety steps required to conduct dives close to the maximum recommended recreational depth.

Your training starts by reviewing reasons for deep diving and how important it is to know your personal limits. During four deep dives with your instructor, you’ll go cover specialised equipment, deep dive planning, buddy communication, gas supply management, dealing with narcosis and other safety considerations.

All required SSI materials are included along with the SSI certification fee!

The SSI Deep Diver course consists two main sessions:

Theory: - To be completed online prior to the course starting.
There is a bit of reading that will need to be completed prior to starting so please make sure you come in to collect your manual.
Diving: - The SSI Deep Diver course consists of four dives with your Instructor. For the SSI Deep Diver we combine the course with an awesome weekend trip away where we have some great diving and easily accessible depths from the charter boat.

Our Instructors are awesome - Here at Performance Diver we only teach SSI courses, and all of our SSI Instructors are here for one reason - they love diving! Sharing the underwater world with you is such an amazing experience and we're privileged to be able to do just that.

Course Prerequisites:

Already be at least a certified SSI Adventure Diver or equivalent.
Complete the Dive Medical form. Click here to print the SSI Medical Form for diving. If you answer YES to any of the medical questions you must complete a Dive Medical check with your Doctor and obtain written medical clearance before the start of the course as we can't allow you in the water without it.
Students must be at least 15 years of age. Parental consent is required for students aged 15 - 17 years of age.
The course cost excludes charter fees, unless otherwise stated. The charter fee is a standard 'day trip' fee for that location - eg the same as heading to the Poor Knights on a scheduled trip.
As well as basic dive equipment (which can be rented) you are required to have a safety sausage, compass and knife.
You will have homework to compete before the course starts. The course is heaps of fun, but is also intense - we have a lot to learn in our sessions, and they run to a very strict timetable. Failure to complete your homework means that you are behind right from the start, and are holding your group back. This is, understandably, not fair on everyone else and is likely to result in you being removed from the course without refund!
