Then join us for the SSI Drysuit Diver course today and dive dry this winter!
The SSI Drysuit Diver course is ideal for anyone who wants to be toasty warm while diving! A drysuit seals you off from the water, hugely increasing your warmth but also adding some extra considerations for your diving.
There is fantastic diving available throughout the winter months here in NZ, with the cooler water bringing improved vis. If you're considering exploring technical diving, the SSI Drysuit Diver is a great first step as a drysuit is often seen as essential equipment for conducting longer and deeper dives.
Included in the course is the SSI Drysuit Diver Manual and the SSI certification fee!
Some SSI Specialty courses are scheduled on demand, so just get in touch to enquire about the dates for your course!
The SSI Drysuit Diver course consists of two main sections:
Theory: - To be completed online prior to the course starting.
There is a bit of reading that will need to be completed prior to starting so please make sure you come in to collect your manual.
Diving: - The SSI Drysuit Diver course consists of two open water dives. The dive site itself is chosen based on conditions on the day, however your instructor will discuss options for this including trips to Taupo, Poor Knights, Aldermans and the Bay of Islands.
Why learn with Performance Diver?
This is a very important question! There are many dive schools out there, so why would you choose ours?
We have nice small class sizes to prioritise your learning, with a maximum of 4 students on SSI Deep Diver courses! This means that you get more personalised instructor time.
We're always going diving! Once you're qualified, we have heaps of shore dives, day trips, weekend adventures and more at every level of qualification! Every weekend throughout the season there are trips planned, so you're never short of options. Our social nights are a great way to make new dive buddies and new friends.
As a Performance Diver student you get exclusive offers and pricing on a huge range of dive gear. If you're not ready to commit to buying your own then no worries - we have heaps of rental gear at a great rate for you. We want you to go diving, so we'll make it as accessible as we can!
Our Instructors are awesome - Here at Performance Diver we only teach SSI courses, and all of our SSI Instructors are here for one reason - they love diving! Sharing the underwater world with you is such an amazing experience and we're privileged to be able to do just that.
Course Prerequisites:
Already be at least a certified SSI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent.
Complete the Dive Medical form. Click here to print the SSI Medical Form for diving. If you answerYES to any of the medical questions you must complete a Dive Medical check with your Doctor and obtain written medical clearance before the start of the course as we can't allow you in the water without it.
Students must be at least 15 years of age. Parental consent is required for students aged 15 - 17 years of age.
As well as basic dive equipment (which can be rented) you are required to have a safety sausage, compass and knife.
You will have homework to compete before the course starts. The course is heaps of fun, but is also intense - we have a lot to learn in our sessions, and they run to a very strict timetable. Failure to complete your homework means that you are behind right from the start, and are holding your group back. This is, understandably, not fair on everyone else and is likely to result in you being removed from the course without refund!
