Have you ever had that "oops" moment? Now it's in the ocean!
Find the lost, forgotten, dropped or buried with the SSI Search and Recovery Diver course.
The SSI Search and Recovery Diver course is designed to help equip you for those 'oops' moments! Weather your anchor line has snapped while out on the boat, or your wedding ring has slipped off your finger and into the water, the Search and Recovery Diver course will equip you to deal with these situations and many more.
During the course, you'll learn how to find and retrieve items from underwater. You'll learn about search patterns, using lift bags, the best methods for locating particular objects and lots more!
Included in the course is the SSI Search and Recovery Diver Manual and the SSI certification fee!
Some SSI Specialty courses are scheduled on demand, so just get in touch to enquire about the dates for your course!
The SSI Search and Recovery Diver course consists of two main sections:
Theory: - Held at our Takapuna store over one evening during the week.
There is a bit of reading that will need to be completed prior to starting so please make sure you come in to collect your manual.
Diving: - The SSI Search and Recovery Diver course consists of four open water dives. The dive site itself is chosen based on conditions on the day, however your instructor will discuss options for this including trips to Taupo, Poor Knights and Bay of Islands.
Why learn to dive with Performance Diver?
This is a very important question! There are many dive schools out there, so why would you choose ours?
We have nice small class sizes to prioritise your learning, with course groups that are well below the maximum allowed by SSI.
We're always going diving! We have heaps of shore dives, day trips, weekend adventures and more for you to get in the water! Every weekend throughout the season there are trips planned, so you're never short of options. Our social nights are a great way to make new dive buddies and new friends.
As a Performance Diver student you get exclusive offers and pricing on a huge range of dive gear. If you're not ready to commit to buying your own then no worries - we have heaps of rental gear at a great rate for you. We want you to go diving, so we'll make it as accessible as we can!
Our Instructors are awesome - Here at Performance Diver we only teach SSI courses, and all of our SSI Instructors are here for one reason - they love diving! Sharing the underwater world with you is such an amazing experience and we're privileged to be able to do just that.
Course Prerequisites:
SSI (Junior) Advanced Open Water Divers or equivalent can enroll in the Search and Recovery Diver course. SSI (Junior) Open Water Divers with a SSI Underwater Navigator certification also qualify.
Complete the Dive Medical form. Click here to print the SSI Medical Form for diving. If you answerYES to any of the medical questions you must complete a Dive Medical check with your Doctor and obtain written medical clearance before the start of the course as we can't allow you in the water without it.
Students must be at least 15 years of age. Parental consent is required for students aged 15 - 17 years of age.
As well as basic dive equipment (which can be rented) you are required to have a safety sausage, compass and knife.
You will have homework to compete before the course starts. The course is heaps of fun, but is also intense - we have a lot to learn in our sessions, and they run to a very strict timetable. Failure to complete your homework means that you are behind right from the start, and are holding your group back. This is, understandably, not fair on everyone else and is likely to result in you being removed from the course without refund!
