What do most divers cite as the most fun and informative PADI dive course?
You may be surprised to learn it’s the PADI Rescue Diver Course.
Scuba divers describe the PADI Rescue Diver course as the most challenging, yet most rewarding course they’ve ever taken. Why? Because you learn to prevent and manage problems in the water, and become more confident in your skills as a diver, knowing that you can help others if needed. During the course, you learn to become a better buddy by practising problem solving skills until they become second nature. Plus, the course is just fun – it’s serious, but still allows for lots of laughter in between the focused learning.
All required PADI materials are included and for you to keep. The PADI certification fee is also included.

If you have 4 divers we can happily schedule a course for you as a group!
or call in store to confirm availability.
The PADI Rescue Diver course consists of two main sections:
- Over one Tuesday evening you will complete the theory section at our Takapuna store. There is some homework for you to complete before these sessions, so make sure you collect your books / register your digital learning code with plenty of time!
The diving part of the PADI Rescue Diver course takes place over one weekend, where you will put those techniques into practice!! With thorough demonstration from your Instructor, you will learn the stages involved in various scenarios and the techniques of particular skills including:
Recognising and managing stress.
Emergency management and equipment
Rescuing panicked divers
Rescuing unresponsive divers
Why learn with Performance Diver?
This is a very important question! There are many dive schools out there, so why would you choose ours?
We have nice small class sizes to prioritise your learning,
with a maximum of 8 students on PADI Rescue Diver courses! This means that you get more personalised instructor time and more opportunity to perfect those skills.
We're always going diving!
Once you're qualified, we have heaps of shore dives, day trips, weekend adventures and more at every level of qualification! Every weekend throughout the season there are trips planned, so you're never short of options. Our social nights are a great way to make new dive buddies and new friends.
As a Performance Diver student you get exclusive offers
and pricing on a huge range of dive gear. If you're not ready to commit to buying your own then no worries - we have heaps of rental gear at a great rate for you. We want you to go diving, so we'll make it as accessible as we can!
Our Instructors are awesome (if we do say so ourselves!)
- Here at Performance Diver we only teach PADI courses, and all of our PADI Instructors are here for one reason - they love diving! Sharing the underwater world with you is such an amazing experience and we're privileged to be able to do just that.
Already be a certified PADI Advanced Open Water diver or equivalent.
Be trained and current for First Aid and CPR within the previous two years
(Check out Emergency First Response CPR and first aid courses).
Complete the Dive Medical form.
Click here to print the PADI Medical Form for diving.
If you answer
to any of the medical questions you
complete a Dive Medical check with your Doctor and obtain written medical clearance
the start of the course as we can't allow you in the water without it.
Students must be at least 15 years of age.
Parental consent is required for students aged 15 - 17 years of age.
Under PADI standards as well as basic dive equipment (which can be rented)
you are required to have a safety sausage and knife.
You will have homework to compete before the course starts.
The course is heaps of fun, but is also intense - we have a lot to learn in our sessions, and they run to a very strict timetable. Failure to complete your homework means that you are behind right from the start, and are holding your group back. This is, understandably, not fair on everyone else and is likely to result in you being removed from the course without refund!
