Do you like boats? You'll like them better underwater!
Join us for the PADI Wreck Diver Course today!
The PADI Wreck Diver course is ideal for anyone interested in shipwrecks! Whether purpose-sunk as an artificial reef for scuba divers, or lost as the result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows to the past. Ships, airplanes and even cars are fascinating to explore and usually teem with aquatic life. Each wreck dive offers a chance for discovery, potentially unlocking a mystery or spying something others have missed. The PADI Wreck Diver Speciality course is popular because it offers rewarding adventures while observing responsible wreck diving practices.
During the course, your instructor will demonstrate how to safely explore a shipwreck. You'll learn the importance of making initial exploratory dives as well as how useful mapping can be. You'll also learn about line laying, and techniques we use to avoid silting out the wreck environment and damaging it's inhabitants.
You can complete the PADI Wreck Diver course while diving on one of our charters - weather you want to explore the photographic potential of the HMNZS Canterbury wreck on a Bay of Islands trip or maybe visit the wreck of the Waikato close to the Poor Knights. Charter costs are additional to course costings.
Included in the course is the PADI Drysuit Diver Manual and the PADI certification fee!

The PADI Wreck Diver course consists of two main sections:
Theory: - Held at our Takapuna store over one evening during the week.
There is a bit of reading that will need to be completed prior to starting so please make sure you come in to collect your manual.
Diving: - The PADI Wreck Diver course consists of four open water dives. The dive site itself is chosen based on conditions on the day, however your instructor will discuss options for this including trips to Taupo, Poor Knights and Bay of Islands.
Why learn with Performance Diver?
This is a very important question! There are many dive schools out there, so why would you choose ours?
We have nice small class sizes to prioritise your learning, with a maximum of 4 students on Wreck Diver courses, and no more than 2 penetrating a wreck at any time! This means that you get more personalised instructor time.
We're always going diving! Once you're qualified, we have heaps of shore dives, day trips, weekend adventures and more at every level of qualification! Every weekend throughout the season there are trips planned, so you're never short of options. Our social nights are a great way to make new dive buddies and new friends.
As a Performance Diver student you get exclusive offers and pricing on a huge range of dive gear. If you're not ready to commit to buying your own then no worries - we have heaps of rental gear at a great rate for you. We want you to go diving, so we'll make it as accessible as we can!
Our Instructors are awesome - Here at Performance Diver we only teach PADI courses, and all of our PADI Instructors are here for one reason - they love diving! Sharing the underwater world with you is such an amazing experience and we're privileged to be able to do just that.
Already be at least a certified PADI Adventure Diver or equivalent.
Complete the Dive Medical form. Click here to print the PADI Medical Form for diving. If you answer YES to any of the medical questions you must complete a Dive Medical check with your Doctor and obtain written medical clearance before the start of the course as we can't allow you in the water without it.
Students must be at least 15 years of age. Parental consent is required for students aged 15 - 17 years of age.
As well as basic dive equipment (which can be rented) you are required to have a safety sausage, compass and knife.
You will have homework to compete before the course starts. The course is heaps of fun, but is also intense - we have a lot to learn in our sessions, and they run to a very strict timetable. Failure to complete your homework means that you are behind right from the start, and are holding your group back. This is, understandably, not fair on everyone else and is likely to result in you being removed from the course without refund!
